Mariam is an Egyptian - Yemeni photographer based in the UK.  Photography has always been an integral part of her upbringing in Cairo and so the camera has always been her tool to understanding everything there is about life.

After finishing her Bachelor’s Degree at the American University in Cairo, she decided to move to the UK to study Photography in depth and polish her passion through academia.  As soon as she completed her Postgraduate studies in Photography from the London College of Communication - UAL and MA in Conceptual Photography at the University of West London, she took a step back and focused on her personal life for a while.

Mofty, now a mother of two boys, but almost never leaves her camera unattended.  She finds taking photographs is almost like a breathing exercise.  Mariam’s art is rooted in her very own challenges of motherhood and her work is fuelled by her personal life.  Other than motherhood challenges, her photography also reflects topics such as mental health and inclusion.

Her most recent body of work is called ‘’Clusters: beautiful chaos’’ was just recently showcased in London Mayfair and showed a great success. This project is based on a love letter to her hometown, Cairo, that she wrote herself.  It is about cherishing beautiful little details that she took for granted, however she finds the true beauty of that city in these little clustered details.

Mariam is currently based in St Albans, Hertfordshire – UK with her husband and sons where she is able to turn her love and passion for photography into a profession. If interested to see more of her work, please check her website www.mariamelmofty.photography  and Instagram page @mariamelmofty.
